The painting itself
Emile Charles Wauters. Portret van mevrouw de Somzée, GD00 gives you the place without putting anyone in it. What holds the canvas together is the horizon: low, patient, and the reason the sky feels so much larger than the ground.
Emile Charles Wauters. Portret van mevrouw de Somzée, GD00. Our painter follows the same logic rather than copying a photograph of it: the far distances go down cool and weak, the near ground stays loaded, and nothing is blended flat.

Where the difficulty is
A print flattens a landscape into a poster: the distance collapses, and the sky stops being weather. Painted by hand the depth comes back, because the painter mixes a cooler, weaker version of every colour for the far ground and lets the near ground stay loaded.
Every canvas is painted to order, so the quote follows your size, frame and destination rather than a fixed list. Tell us what you need on WhatsApp and we reply with an exact figure, usually within the hour. You deal directly with the studio that paints it — no reseller layer.
Canvas sizes
Every canvas is painted to order, so the size is yours to choose. These are the ones people ask for most:
| Size (inches) | Size (cm) | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| 40 × 30 in | 102 × 76 cm | Living room focal wall, above a sofa |
| 32 × 24 in | 81 × 61 cm | Living room, above a sideboard |
| 30 × 24 in | 76 × 61 cm | Dining room, bedroom feature wall |
| 24 × 20 in | 60 × 50 cm | Study, home office, above a desk |
| 20 × 16 in | 50 × 40 cm | Bedroom, hallway, above a console |
| 16 × 12 in | 40 × 30 cm | A shelf, a small wall, a gallery group |
If none of these is quite right, tell us the dimensions you need. Irregular and oversized canvases are routine. We quote the canvas first; framing and shipping come after. Import duties and taxes fall to the buyer (DAP).
Send the wall, the size and whether you want a frame, and we will quote.

In practice it works best over a sofa or sideboard. Because each canvas is built from scratch, we follow the original's proportions instead of trimming the image to a standard shape. Panoramic and vertical formats are both fine.
Before you order
Is it really painted by hand?
Yes. We hand-paint from public-domain source images, do not sell prints, and never claim the original.
When will it actually arrive?
Studio time is roughly two to four weeks, then a few more days for the oil to set before we can photograph and pack it. We tell you where your canvas is at each stage.
Can I resell the reproduction?
Yes. Because the underlying work is in the public domain, the hand-painted canvas is yours to sell, gift or install commercially.
