Painted in Dafen, the village of ten thousand painters
In 1989, a Hong Kong art dealer brought twenty-six painters to a small village on the edge of Shenzhen. Word spread. Painters came from all over China — art school graduates, portraitists, copyists with museum-level technique — and Dafen Oil Painting Village was born.
By the 2000s, this one village — a few narrow lanes of studios and galleries — was producing, by some estimates, a majority of the world's commercially hand-painted oil paintings. Walk its lanes today and you'll still see easels on the pavements, turpentine in the air, and masters at work on everything from Van Gogh reproductions to large original abstracts.
Our studio opened in Dafen in 2016. We started as painters ourselves — our classic locomotive series took us to the Shenzhen International Art Expo, and our works have since been exhibited and collected in more than twenty countries. Today we keep a painter's rhythm: every piece is made by hand in our own studio and by the veteran artists we've worked with for years, many of whom have painted with us for a decade.
We are a studio first, backed by the depth of the village. That means one-of-one custom portraits get the same care as a five-hundred-piece hotel project — and the price you get reflects the painter, not a chain of middlemen.
