The Palm Offering — Hand-Painted Oil Reproduction

Painted to order in Dafen Village, Shenzhen · after Frederick Goodall · Public domain · Landscape

A landscape that refuses to be scenery. Hagar and Ishmael gives you the place without putting anyone in it, and the brushwork stays visible all the way through — you can read the order it was painted in.

Why paint it by hand

What you lose in a print is the air. The original puts hazier, cooler paint between you and the horizon; a press prints the haze as a flat wash. Handled by hand the far ground goes back where it belongs.

Where it belongs on a wall

This one reads well on a large living room wall where it can be read from across the room. Nothing gets cropped to suit a standard canvas. We build to the original's dimensions and scale from there.

What people ask us

How long does a hand-painted version take?

Roughly two to four weeks of studio time, depending mostly on size and how much impasto the surface carries, then several more days for the oil to set before we photograph, pack and send.

Do you frame it?

Framing is quoted separately, so you can decide once you have seen the finished canvas in photographs.

What size should I order?

You choose the size. Each canvas is cut to your measurements rather than pulled from stock, so tell us the wall dimensions and we will tell you what proportion works.
