Hieronymus Bosch — Hand-Painted Oil Reproductions

1450–1516 · Netherlandish Early Renaissance

Five hundred years on, nobody agrees what Bosch actually meant. What everybody agrees on is that every square centimetre of a Bosch panel is worth looking at closely. He packed hundreds of separate little scenes into a single triptych, each one drawn with the care someone else would give a whole painting.

Hieronymus Bosch paintings we have in stock

Every canvas below is painted by hand in oil on real artist canvas by our studio painters in Dafen Village, Shenzhen. Pick a size, pick a frame, and we send photographs of the finished painting for your approval before anything ships.

Why Hieronymus Bosch is hard to reproduce properly

Scale is the trap. The creatures in a Bosch are only a few millimetres tall in the original; enlarge them badly and they turn into cartoon blobs. A good copy has to keep fine-line definition at small size while still reading clearly from across a room — two requirements that pull against each other.

How our painters work

We work these panels with rested overcrowding: oil glazes first for the deep Northern greens and skin tones, then a separate session with fine rigger brushes for the small figures. Your painter sends close-up photographs of the detail before the varnish goes on, because that is where these either succeed or fail.

Every canvas is made to order, so nothing sits in a warehouse. A 70% deposit starts the work and the balance is due after you have approved photographs of your finished painting. We never sell these as originals and never issue certificates of authenticity for them — they are honest reproductions, painted by hand.

We benchmark every canvas against the published list price of the big Dafen export studios and stay $20 below it at every single size — the same painters, the same 400gsm linen and the same hand-painted process, without the platform margin. Estimates only: the final quote depends on your exact size, frame and shipping destination. Framing and shipping are quoted separately. Duties and import taxes are the buyer's responsibility (DAP).

Ordering is a five-minute conversation

  1. Send us the painting you want, your wall size and a photo of the wall if you have one.
  2. We quote exactly — sizes, frame options and timeline, in writing, usually within the hour.
  3. 70% deposit starts it; your painter begins and you get progress photographs.
  4. We send photographs of the finished canvas. You approve before it ships.
  5. 30% balance, then tracked worldwide shipping. Framed work ships crated.

Want one of these for your wall? Tell us which painting and roughly what size — we will tell you honestly if it will work.

💬 Ask About a Hieronymus Bosch Reproduction
Honest labelling: all reference images on this page are public-domain scans of the original works, shown so you can judge the composition. Hieronymus Bosch died in 1516 and the paintings are in the public domain, which makes hand-painted reproductions legal to commission and own worldwide. Every canvas we sell is painted by hand in our own studio; we never present it as an original and never issue fake certificates.

FAQ

Are these real oil paintings?

Yes — genuine oil paint on artist canvas, applied by hand by one of our studio painters. Nothing is printed, traced or transferred from a scan.

Can I request a Hieronymus Bosch painting that is not listed here?

Yes. If the work is in the public domain we can paint it. Send us a reference image and we will tell you how it will translate to your size.

What sizes can I order?

Any size. The painter works freehand from a reference, so we can also adjust the crop to suit the proportions of your wall.

How do I approve it?

We photograph the finished painting on the bench before packing. You approve, then pay the 30% balance and we ship.

How long does it take?

Most canvases take 2–4 weeks depending on size and how busy the studio is. Layered oil needs proper drying time and we do not shortcut it.
