Reading the canvas
The near ground is loaded with paint, the far ground scraped thin — you feel the air between.
It is shallow space, deliberately, which makes the surface the subject.
The date is uncertain — it is filed simply as by John Frederick Lewis.

What a print loses
A press gives every window and cornice the same hard edge. The painter lets the distance go soft, which is what makes a street feel like a street rather than a diagram.
Rather than publish rates we would rather look at your wall first. Send the size and any frame preference on WhatsApp for a firm quote. You deal directly with the studio that paints it — no reseller layer.
Canvas sizes
Every canvas is painted to order, so the size is yours to choose. These are the ones people ask for most:
| Size (inches) | Size (cm) | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| 20 × 16 in | 50 × 40 cm | Bedroom, hallway, above a console |
| 16 × 12 in | 40 × 30 cm | A shelf, a small wall, a gallery group |
| 64 × 48 in | 163 × 122 cm | Villa scale, lobby, hospitality wall |
| 48 × 36 in | 122 × 91 cm | Large living room, stairwell, loft |
Larger canvases are possible, and so is anything in between. Just send the size you want. We quote the canvas first; framing and shipping come after. Import duties and taxes fall to the buyer (DAP).
Send the wall, the size and whether you want a frame, and we will quote.

In practice it works best in a study or home office, above the desk. Because each canvas is built from scratch, we follow the original's proportions instead of trimming the image to a standard shape. Panoramic and vertical formats are both fine.
Before you order
Can I resell the reproduction?
Yes. Because the underlying work is in the public domain, the hand-painted canvas is yours to sell, gift or install commercially.
Is it really painted by hand?
Yes. We hand-paint from public-domain source images, do not sell prints, and never claim the original.
Will it look exactly like the image?
Not exactly, and that is the point — it is a painting, not a scan. Composition, colour and drawing follow the original closely; the surface is where a painter's own decisions show.
