What the painter is doing here
You can see where the brush was loaded and where it was nearly dry.
Strokes change direction with the surface they describe — water, cloth, sky, stone.
No date is firmly attached to it; it is catalogued under John Frederick Lewis.

Why paint it by hand
What you lose in a print is the air. The original puts hazier, cooler paint between you and the horizon; a press prints the haze as a flat wash. Handled by hand the far ground goes back where it belongs.
There is no price list because there is no standard job. Tell us the wall, the size and whether you want it framed, and we will come back with a figure. There is no agency in between; the studio that paints your canvas is the one answering your messages.
Choosing a size
Because we paint each piece from scratch, you are not limited to stock dimensions. Common choices:
| Size (inches) | Size (cm) | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| 16 × 12 in | 40 × 30 cm | A shelf, a small wall, a gallery group |
| 64 × 48 in | 163 × 122 cm | Villa scale, lobby, hospitality wall |
| 48 × 36 in | 122 × 91 cm | Large living room, stairwell, loft |
| 40 × 30 in | 102 × 76 cm | Living room focal wall, above a sofa |
| 32 × 24 in | 81 × 61 cm | Living room, above a sideboard |
These are the usual requests, not a limit. Anything in between, or bigger, is just a matter of asking. Shipping and framing are not included in the canvas quote. Duties and import taxes are for the buyer's account (DAP).
Tell us where it will hang and how big it needs to be — we will price it properly.
💬 Get a Quote for Main Entrance of Great MosqueWhere this one sits best
We have painted it most often for clients hanging it on a stairwell wall, where the depth opens the space up. Proportions follow the original, not the nearest standard frame size. Anything panoramic or vertical is handled as a matter of course.
The practical questions
How close will it be to the original?
The composition, colour and drawing follow the original closely; the brushwork carries the painter's own hand. The painter works freehand on a blank canvas, following the same logic as the original rather than copying a photograph.
Do you work from my own photograph?
Yes, though that is a separate service. This page is for a hand-painted version of Main Entrance of Great Mosque; for a photo-to-painting commission, send the image on WhatsApp.
How long does a hand-painted version take?
Roughly two to four weeks of studio time, depending mostly on size and how much impasto the surface carries, then several more days for the oil to set before we photograph, pack and send.
