Reading the canvas
You can see where the brush was loaded and where it was nearly dry.
Strokes change direction with the surface they describe — water, cloth, sky, stone.
No date is firmly attached to it; it is catalogued under Winslow Homer.

| Public domain | Yes — the artist died over 70 years ago |
Why paint it by hand
A printed reflection is a smudge, because the machine averages the colours. The painter does not average anything; every mark is placed, and that is what makes the surface look wet. Reproducing it means making the same call, brush in hand.
Each commission is priced on its own terms: dimensions, surface build-up, frame. WhatsApp us the details and you will have an exact quote back, typically within the hour. There is no agency in between; the studio that paints your canvas is the one answering your messages.
Choosing a size
Because we paint each piece from scratch, you are not limited to stock dimensions. Common choices:
| Size (inches) | Size (cm) | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| 60 × 20 in | 152 × 51 cm | Lobby, hospitality corridor, large loft |
| 72 × 24 in | 183 × 61 cm | Villa scale, double-height wall |
| 30 × 12 in | 76 × 30 cm | A long wall that would swallow a normal canvas |
| 36 × 14 in | 91 × 36 cm | Above a wide sideboard or a long console |
| 40 × 16 in | 102 × 41 cm | Stairwell, or a hallway with room to run |
These are the usual requests, not a limit. Anything in between, or bigger, is just a matter of asking. Shipping and framing are not included in the canvas quote. Duties and import taxes are for the buyer's account (DAP).
Tell us where it will hang and how big it needs to be — we will price it properly.
💬 Get a Quote for 'Hudson River'Where this one sits best
We have painted it most often for clients hanging it on a stairwell wall, where the depth opens the space up. Proportions follow the original, not the nearest standard frame size. Anything panoramic or vertical is handled as a matter of course.
The practical questions
What about duties and import taxes?
Those are the buyer's responsibility (DAP). The amounts are set by your customs authority, not by us.
What if my wall is an unusual shape?
That is normal for us. Send the measurements and we will work out a canvas proportion that suits the space.
How long does a hand-painted version take?
Roughly two to four weeks of studio time, depending mostly on size and how much impasto the surface carries, then several more days for the oil to set before we photograph, pack and send.
