Paul Cézanne — Hand-Painted Oil Reproductions

Cézanne painted structure rather than appearance. Everything is built from separate planes of colour with contours that deliberately do not join, and the space is made by temperature — warm comes forward, cool goes back. It looks simple and is the least forgiving thing on this site to copy.

Paul Cézanne paintings we have in stock

Every canvas below is painted by hand in oil on real artist canvas by our studio painters in Dafen Village, Shenzhen. Pick a size, pick a frame, and we send photographs of the finished painting for your approval before anything ships.

Honest labelling: these are faithful hand-painted reproductions, not originals and not museum-licensed copies. Cézanne died in 1906 and his work is in the public domain, so commissioning a hand-painted copy is legal worldwide. We never sell them as anything else and we issue no fake certificates of authenticity.

Why Cézanne punishes the instinct to tidy up

Every beginner's reflex is to close a contour. Cézanne's contours are a series of separate strokes with gaps between them, and bare canvas is allowed to show through. Those gaps are the painting: they keep the surface alive and let your eye finish the shape. Close them and you get a competent landscape that nobody would look at twice.

The second reflex to suppress is blending. His shifts from ochre to olive to blue are laid side by side, each stroke keeping its own direction and staying visible. Smoothing them produces mud — and mud is exactly what a printed Cézanne looks like.

How our painters reproduce Cézanne

  1. Limited palette. Ochre, olive, blue, violet and a dull red. Adding colours turns it into a genre scene.
  2. Planes, not objects. The mountain, the fields and the trees are blocked in as flat shapes first; detail is never the starting point.
  3. Broken contour. Outlines are laid as separate strokes with gaps, and the gaps are kept.
  4. Stop before it looks finished. The hardest instruction we give. Every canvas is photographed and compared with the original before it goes to you for approval.

Cézanne suits rooms where people sit still — a study, a library, a bedroom. He rewards a second look rather than demanding the first one.
