How a painting is made in a Dafen studio

A reproduction or custom piece in our studio is not traced or transferred. The painter works from a high-resolution reference (or your photo) and paints freehand in layers:

1. Composition and ground. The canvas is toned and the composition laid out in a thin underpainting that matches the reference's proportions.
2. Colour build-up. Paints are mixed in oil — not acrylic — because only oil gives the same depth and slow, controllable blending.

2. 70% deposit to start. A secure payment link covers the painter's time and materials.

Is it legit, and is it legal?

Dafen is a recognised national cultural-industry base, not a back-alley knock-off market. Hand-painted reproductions of public-domain masters are legal to commission and own in virtually every country. We sell them clearly as reproductions and never pass them off as originals.
